Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with six male nursing managers working for a general hospital in the Osaka metropolitan area (1 man in his 30s, 4 men in their 40s, and 1man in his 50s). The data obtained from the semi-structured interviews were analyzed by a qualitative inductive method. This study was conducted after obtaining the approval of the ethics committee of Shiga University of Medical Science.\nResults: By analyzing the contents of the interviews, the following six superordinate categories were extracted from 49 and 15 {mid-level categories}: [sex differences that we do not need to pay attention to in particular]; [existing sex differences and ways of coping with them]; [male nurse-specific talents and struggles]; [sex differences-aware management techniques]; [the gap between the ideal and reality as a manager]; and [expectations of the future based on one's own career]. The mean interview time was 79.1 minutes (ranging from 70 minutes to 100 minutes). Conclusions: The male nursing managers believed that sex differences existed. Based on such a consideration, they utilized various sex differences-aware management techniques obtained from men's experiences of working as a minority in a job field in which women account for the majority. Meanwhile, it was found that they were troubled by a gap between the ideal and reality, as a manager and had difficulties implementing sex differences-aware management techniques. In addition, the male nursing managers placed expectations on junior male potential peers and made an effort to act as a role model with an eye to their future. From the results of this study, we were able to obtain some suggestions that led to the retention and elevation of morale in male nurses and male nursing managers."}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2016-11-25"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"ijjns0501_06.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"8.9 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"本文(PDFファイル)","url":"https://koka.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/827/files/ijjns0501_06.pdf"},"version_id":"2958d19e-0de5-48f3-8b39-de5dd4694546"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"男性看護師","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"管理者","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"ジェンダー意識","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"看護管理者となった男性看護師のジェンダー意識","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"看護管理者となった男性看護師のジェンダー意識"}]},"item_type_id":"3","owner":"13","path":["162"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2016-11-25"},"publish_date":"2016-11-25","publish_status":"0","recid":"827","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["看護管理者となった男性看護師のジェンダー意識"],"weko_creator_id":"13","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-06-23T12:31:30.660437+00:00"}
