| 内容記述 | This paper discusses about means of two elements in informed consent, that is, patient’s understanding on the information disclosed and the voluntary decision-making. Beauchamp and Childress stress that disclosure of information without giving actual und-erstanding to patient is clearly inadequate, when they offer five core elements of the components of informed consent, competence, disclosure, understanding of information, voluntary and agree. However, complete understanding is probably unrealistic. To judge or quantify person’s understanding is a difficult work to do successfully. Achieving adeq-uate understanding involves asking questions, encouraging questions, practicing tasks and satisfying one-self. Decision-making is the legal and the institutional polices for docume-nting that informed consent is obtained. It is a legal human right based on Article 13 ofthe Constitution of Japan. Moreover it is cognitive thinking process to preference medicaltreatments or procedures. Therefore, we need to intervene and examine the problem of adequate understanding pointed out above with most cautiously. |
